If you’ve ever been curious about communicating with the spirit world, Elizabeth Walton, known to many as "The Mobile Medium," is here to share her extraordinary abilities. Liz, a local Sarnia resident, has had a lifelong connection to spirits and the energy they leave behind, and she now offers her gift to help others connect with their loved ones on the other side.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, a medium is someone who can act as a bridge between the physical world and the spirit world. In Liz’s case, she communicates with spirits through various channels, using a range of psychic abilities such as Clairaudience (clear hearing), Clairsentience (clear sensing), Clairalience (clear smelling), Clairgustance (clear tasting), and Claircognizance (clear knowing). These abilities manifest in different ways—sometimes through vivid images, symbols, or feelings that Liz must interpret.
Liz recalls having these “gifts” for as long as she can remember. However, growing up in a Roman Catholic household, her ability to communicate with the spirit world wasn’t something that was encouraged. “I was raised to believe that this was something I shouldn’t be doing,” Liz explains. Despite her early struggles with accepting her gift, Liz now refers to the spirits she connects with as “an energy”—the energy of their souls. Over time, she came to see her abilities not as a curse, but as a unique connection to the other side.
For years, Liz fought her gift, trying to suppress it out of fear and uncertainty. Her resistance came with a cost: she suffered from debilitating migraines. “I would get these migraines for days on end, especially when I was denying what I could feel,” Liz shares. But everything changed when she had a visit from her mother, who had passed away. “She came to me and told me that I needed to share my gift with others,” Liz says, her voice softening with the memory.
That message from her mother was a turning point. After accepting her gift, Liz’s migraines vanished entirely. “It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders,” she says. “I haven’t had a headache since.” This newfound peace allowed Liz to embrace her abilities fully, although she makes it clear that she doesn’t control when the spirits arrive. “The spirits come when they want to. I don’t get to choose,” she says with a smile. “They can show up at any time. One minute, I could be sitting in a restaurant with my husband, and the next, I’m receiving messages from spirits at a nearby table.”
One memorable experience Liz recalls was on St. Patrick’s Day, when she and her husband visited an Irish pub. As soon as they walked in, Liz was overwhelmed with messages from spirits, so much so that she had to leave the pub for a while to regain her composure. It was only after the visit that she learned the pub had once been a funeral home—a revelation that made sense given the intensity of the messages she was receiving.
Liz now uses her abilities to offer readings for individuals, couples, and groups. Each session is preceded by meditation to help Liz center herself and tune in to the messages she needs to share. Group sessions, Liz says, are her favourite. “I love the energy of a group reading,” she explains. “It’s exhilarating, but it’s also draining. When I do a group session, the strongest spirit often comes through first, and I act as an instrument for them to communicate.”
Although her work can be emotionally and physically taxing, Liz is committed to helping people find closure and connection through her readings. “I don’t see myself as a fortune teller,” she explains. “I’m just a conduit for the spirits to share their messages with the people who need to hear them.”
Born and raised in Sarnia, Liz returned to her hometown after spending nine years in Calgary. While in Calgary, she had the opportunity to hone her skills, but it’s clear that Sarnia is where she feels most at home. In addition to her work as a medium, Liz is also an active participant in the local arts scene. She’s involved with Theatre Sarnia and the Petrolia Community Theatre, where she contributes as an actor.
I had the pleasure of sitting down with Liz to learn more about her work, and yes, she did have a message for me from the other side. I won’t go into the details, but I’ll say that it left me smiling and with a sense of peace.
For those interested in learning more or booking a reading, Liz is always open to new clients and continues to offer her services to those seeking spiritual connection. Whether through a one-on-one session or a group reading, Liz Walton is truly Sarnia’s “Mobile Medium,” bringing comfort, closure, and connection to those ready to listen.
