For years, the corner of Front St and Lite St has been home to a familiar breakfast spot for many Sarnians. But when Sitara Indian Cuisine took over the space, they didn’t just bring a new menu—they reimagined breakfast itself.

Sitara Manpal

Merging the comfort of a traditional diner breakfast with bold Indian flavors, Sitara offers something unique: eggs Benedict with butter chicken sauce instead of hollandaise, spiced breakfast potatoes infused with house-ground masalas, and hearty parathas stuffed with paneer and served with cooling yogurt.

For longtime regulars of the previous establishment, the transition was met with some hesitation.

“I wasn’t sure about it at first,” said Deb, a Sarnia native in her mid-60s who’s been coming to the location for years with friends. “I’m used to my bacon, eggs, and toast. But one of the girls convinced me to try the butter chicken Benny, and I’ll tell you—I was blown away. It’s the same comfort food I love, but with this rich, flavorful twist I never would’ve thought to try.”

This balance between familiarity and discovery is exactly what Sitara’s owners, Manpal Singh and Ajit Kaur, envisioned when introducing their breakfast menu.

“We wanted to honor the history of this space and the customers who have been coming here for years,” Singh explained. “But at the same time, we wanted to bring something new—something that reflects the diverse flavors of Indian cuisine while keeping that warm, hearty breakfast experience intact.”

The result is a morning menu that feels both exciting and nostalgic. Patrons can still get their eggs and toast, but with a side of spiced keema (minced lamb) instead of sausage, or a masala chai latte in place of their usual coffee. It’s a subtle but intentional shift that has won over even the most traditional breakfast-goers.

“It’s opened my eyes,” Deb admitted. “Now, when we come for breakfast, we all try something different and share. It’s turned into a bit of an adventure for us, and I love it.”

By blending two culinary traditions, Sitara has created a breakfast experience that’s more than just a meal—it’s a conversation starter, a bridge between old and new, and proof that even the most classic comforts can be reimagined.
