The Refined Fool Brewery is calling for a second round.
The Sarnia microbrewery is seeking a zoning amendment from City Hall for possible expansion at 1326 London Rd., a site currently occupied by TJ’s Furniture & Home Decor.
“There is still a lot of work ahead to make it a reality,” said Nathan Colquhoun, one of the brewery’s owners.
“We will make a more in-depth announcement in the near future."
Refined Fool has operated at 137 Davis St. since opening in May of 2014. The additional space would serve as a production facility and have a taproom as well, Colquhoun said.
“But so much has to happen before anything is certain.”
An official application could go to city council as early as Feb. 27.
This is the second attempt by the brewery and its 15 employees to secure more operating space.
Last September, it presented a 200-plus-page report prepared with the assistance of a former city planner for a planned expansion into the former Sarnia This Week property at 153 Christina St.
At the time, the brewery was outsourcing 10,000 litres of beer production to another facility.
But the owners requested the planning applications be withdrawn after failing to reach an agreement with the building’s owner.
