Sitara Indian Cuisine has established itself as a beloved dining destination in Sarnia, offering a vibrant menu of authentic Indian flavors. But for owners Manpal Singh and Ajit Kaur, Sitara is more than just a restaurant—it’s a bridge between cultures, a place where food becomes a shared experience of tradition, hospitality, and innovation.

Founded in 2012, Sitara’s journey took a new turn in 2017 when Singh and Kaur took over the business and relocated to Sarnia from Toronto. Singh, with more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry, and Kaur, transitioning from a 15-year career in banking, saw the restaurant’s potential not just as a business, but as a way to connect people through food.

“We wanted Sitara to be more than just a restaurant—it’s a place where people can connect, celebrate, and savor the true essence of Indian flavors,” they shared.

That philosophy is evident in the menu, where each dish tells a story of regional Indian cooking. Signature offerings like Butter Chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, and Tandoori Chicken are prepared with house-ground spice blends, using techniques like slow-cooking and tandoor baking to preserve the authenticity of each flavor.

Beyond the food, Sitara is known for its warm and personal approach to hospitality. Customers are treated as family, with staff taking the time to remember preferences, recommend dishes, and create a welcoming atmosphere.

That sense of connection extends beyond the restaurant walls. Sitara is active in the community, supporting local events and charities while adapting to the needs of its customers. Even when construction in the area disrupted business, Sitara found ways to keep its doors open, strengthening takeout and delivery services to continue serving the community.

For Singh and Kaur, Sitara isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a space for cultural exchange, a reminder that great food has the power to bring people together, one dish at a time.
