Police ask for community’s help in Essex Street murder

Sarnia Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for the murder of Sue-Elin Lumsden.

The 66-year-old Sarnia woman, cancer survivor and hospital volunteer was found dead in her home in the 200 block of Essex Street on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Police said today that assistance from the public helped them arrest the two men charged with first-degree murder in the death of Allen Schairer, 62, found dead Jan. 26 on Devine Street.

“Detectives now believe that with the assistance of our community we will be able to arrest those involved in the Essex Street murder,” said Const. Giovanni Sottosanti. “Ms. Lumsden was a very dedicated member of our community and now it is our turn to do the right thing and bring those involved to justice.”

Sarnia Lambton Crimes Stoppers is offering a $4,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of anyone involved in the murder of Sue-Elin Lumsden.
