Traditions do at least two things for a community: first, they identify something important about us; and second, they bind us together. Each year we witness a mass of people at Canatara Beach for Canada Day, which is wonderful, but our question has always been: why not any other time? Why not gather at the beach simply because beach life is central to the spirit of Sarnia?
On Monday, August 26th, let’s gather at Canatara Park for an unofficial beach celebration! Imagine an afternoon of friends, family, and neighbours dedicated to the love we all share for Sarnia and its beautiful beaches. Unlike a civic holiday or a commercial event, this gathering is for-the-community/by-the-community. It’s about nothing more than the fact that we share this awesome place together—which is actually rather incredible.
So bring your beach gear, your food and drink, your guitars and drums and your summer spirit! Let’s celebrate our love for Sarnia, our love for the beach, and the joy of being together!
Monday, August 26, 3:00 p.m. - Sunset, Canatara Bandshell Beach
