Labour Day 2024: What’s open and closed in Sarnia

Summer is winding down, but the Labour Day weekend is heating up! As some businesses take a well-earned break, let’s dive into what’s open and closed across Sarnia and Point Edward this Monday, September 2, 2024

Pharmacy/Shopping

All Shoppers Drug Mart locations operate normally, except Mitton Street location: noon – 5 p.m. (same on Sunday, September 1, 2024)

Rexall will be closed.

Lambton Mall will be open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Grocery Stores

Kyle’s No Frills will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Food Basics will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (the pharmacy is closed)

Walmart Supercentre will be open.

Real Canadian Superstore will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. (the pharmacy is closed)

Metro locations will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Ken’s Your Independent Grocer will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Food and Drink

All Beer Store locations will be closed except the Beer Store at 1107 Confederation Street, which is open 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

LCBO stores will be closed.

Wine Rack will be open.

Most restaurants and bars will be open, but hours may vary. Call to be sure.

Public Transportation 

Sarnia Transit buses will not be operating.

Government Services

All government offices, including City Hall, will be closed.

Banks and credit unions will be closed. 

Most mail delivery offices will be closed. Canada Post, FedEx, Purolator and UPS will not be collecting or delivering. 

Garbage collection will continue as scheduled on Monday.

The Sarnia Compost Site will be closed.

Recreation and Entertainment

The Tecumseh Pool closed for the season on Aug. 25.

The Tecumseh Park Splash Pad will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Strangway Centre will be closed. 

Galaxy Cinemas Sarnia will be open.

Sarnia library locations will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024 and Monday, Sept. 2, 2024. 

The Starlight Casino Point Edward will be open.

Gateway Casinos will be open.
