The Sarnia Lambton Sports Hall of Fame has announced more award winners for its upcoming enshrinement banquet.
Brayden Kominek and Hunter Boucher have been named co-winners of the Pappy Burr Award, which goes to outstanding students about to enter post secondary education.
Boucher, a graduate of Ecole Secondary St. Francois Xavier, is a student athlete of the year winner who excelled in badminton, tennis, basketball, swimming and volleyball. He also has a long history of community volunteer work.
Kominek, a Lambton Central Collegiate graduate, also achieved high academic marks while participating in hockey, cross country and track and field.
He has been a volunteer for Lambton County Development Services, as well as helping out with minor sports.
Katie Rivait has been named a co-winner of the Joe DeRush Award, which is for athletes with disabilities.
Rivait won the Staff Trophy and Principals' Award at Alexander Mackenzie Secondary School. She participated in track and field, sledge hockey, basketball and floor hockey. She also took part in the Special Olympics.
Rivait joins Daniel Robar, who was previously announced as a Joe DeRush co-winner.
John Girard has won the Rose Hodgson Award for outstanding contributions to the community.
Girard was an educator for the local Catholic school board from 1981 to 2011. He also mentored thousands of young people in and out of the classroom as a coach and convener of football and wrestling. He is one of the original coaches of the Sarnia Amateur Wrestling Club founded by Bill McNamara.
