On July 31st 2024 at 6:30pm, a female was observed rummaging through a vehicle parked in the area of Trudeau Drive and Confederation Street. The vehicle owner, after confirming multiple items had been taken from her vehicle, confronted the suspect nearby and demanded her items be returned. The suspect initially turned over some of the stolen items, but then became violent, striking the victim in the chest. The female suspect fled. The victim was not injured.
Police were called and the suspect description was shared with patrolling officers. At 8pm, officers located the suspect in the area of Murphy Road and Wellington Road. She was placed under arrest for theft and assault. A search incident to arrest revealed property of the first victim, as well as a second victim (additional theft from their vehicle). Further investigation revealed the second victim's stolen credit card had been used at a retailer, and it too was recovered on the accused.
As the time of this arrest, the accused was bound by a Probation Order and Recognizance of Bail for similar offences.
33 year old female suspect of Sarnia, has been held for bail on the following charges:
- Assault
- Theft under $5000
- Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card
- Possession of Stolen Property X 2
- Fail to Comply with a Probation Order.
