Sarnia Police Service Board Appoints Inspector Michael Van Sickle as Deputy Chief Designate

SARNIA, ON – The Sarnia Police Service Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Inspector Michael Van Sickle as the new Deputy Chief Designate for the Sarnia Police Service. Inspector Van Sickle will succeed Deputy Chief Julie Craddock, who has recently transitioned to the Deputy Chief of the Anishinabek Police Service.

 Prior to this appointment, Inspector Van Sickle successfully commanded the Operations Division of the Sarnia Police Service, overseeing the Patrol Branch, Communications, and Records. With a career spanning nearly two decades, he has made significant contributions across both the Operations and Criminal Investigations Divisions. Additionally, Inspector Van Sickle has served on the Emergency Response Team and the Training Branch, further diversifying his experience within the organization.

 As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, he has managed critical areas such as Recruiting, Professional Standards, Human Resources, and Property and Evidence. His extensive background and established relationships with personnel will be invaluable as he steps into this new role.

 Inspector Van Sickle is a proud graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and Lambton College in Sarnia. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Athabasca University and a graduate of the Police Leadership Program from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

 Beyond his professional responsibilities, Inspector Van Sickle is actively involved in the community, having served with the Sarnia Minor Hockey Association for over ten years and volunteering with the Camlachie Athletic Association during the spring and summer months.

 Deputy Chief Van Sickle has officially commenced his duties, maintaining command of both the Operations Division and the Community Support Division.
