Sarnia man arrested for threats with machete

On July 23, 2024, at 7 pm, Sarnia Police were called to Canatara Park for a report of threatening.    

The investigation revealed that the suspect was involved in a verbal altercation with two other individuals and then all parted ways.  All three parties are known to each other and they have a history of disagreements.  The accused returned to the park in his vehicle and drove in close proximity to the other two people.  Brandishing a machete out of his vehicle window, he threatened them with harm and fled the area.  

A vehicle description was shared with patrol officers who quickly located the suspect in his vehicle.  The vehicle was stopped and the driver was placed under arrest.  A search of the vehicle revealed a large machete which was seized as evidence.    

The 21 year old accused of Sarnia, was held for bail on the following charges:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Uttering Threats
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

 The accused was released from bail court on a Recognizance of Bail with conditions.
