Injured Sarnia Police Officer Released from Hospital

spsmediarelease2

On August 20, 2024, a member of the Sarnia Police Service (SPS) received multiple stabs wounds while responding to a person in crisis call in the City of Sarnia. The offender in this matter has been remanded into custody following a bail hearing on a charge of attempted murder.

The 37-year-old Constable suffered multiple lacerations to his right arm, right temple, under his right eye, trapezius, back, and hand. During his initial treatment, he required numerous units of blood and plasma to stabilize his condition and dozens of stitches were required to close the wounds. He will be under ongoing medical care to assess any nerve damage and long-term ramifications.

On behalf of our injured officer, his family, and all our members, we thank the countless citizens, police associations, Police Chiefs, police services from across Canada, Premier Ford, Members of Parliament, and so many more, for their kind words and support. We are glad to have him home, and for him to begin the process of healing.

Out of respect for the privacy of our member and his family, the Sarnia Police Service will not be releasing his name.
