Impaired Driver Arrested

On September 10, 2024, at 10:18 am, a dump truck was travelling northbound on Scott Road at St. Andrews Street in Sarnia.  The driver of the truck failed to navigate the turn and collided with the ditch. The vehicle then tried to reverse out of the ditch several times but was not successful. There were no other vehicles involved and no injuries. 

Upon police arrival, the dump truck driver was observed to display signs of impairment and was placed under arrest.  A search of the vehicle revealed alcohol in a cooler, still cold to the touch.

The driver was transported to the Sarnia Police facility where he later provided breath samples.  Test results indicated that the driver was over four times the legal limit (360mg and 350mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood). 

A 33 year old of Sarnia, has been charged with Impaired Driving and Over .08.  He was released from custody with a future court date.

The vehicle was impounded for 7 days and licence administratively suspended for 90 days pursuant to the Highway Traffic Act.
