Former Sarnia Basketball Coach Arrested in British Columbia for Sexual Offences Against Children

Earlier this year, the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Division received a complaint regarding historical sexual offences (1989).  These offences occurred during a period where the accused volunteered as a youth basketball coach.  The victim, now an adult, was a young person at the time.

As a result of the investigation by the Sarnia Police Service, a 59 year old male of Penticton British Columbia, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Sexual Interference (2 Counts)
  • Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 years of age (2 counts)

The Sarnia Police Service obtained a Canada wide warrant for the arrest of the suspect for these offences.

On August 1st, 2024 the suspect was arrested by members of the Penticton Detachment, of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.  He will be appearing by video in the Sarnia Court on today's date.
