On August 20, 2024, Ron Hansen was sworn in as the Sarnia Police Service’s (SPS) newest Deputy Chief of Police at a well-attended ceremony at Sarnia City Hall Council Chambers.
Deputy Chief Hansen joins the Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for overseeing the Criminal Investigation Division. “As Deputy Chief of the Sarnia Police Service I will be working to enhance our criminal investigations, increase our clearance rates, and address the increasing Crime Severity Index,” said Deputy Chief Hansen. “I look forward to leading an exceptional investigative team. Together we can make a difference and build a safer future for Sarnia”
Deputy Chief Hansen began his career with Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) in 1995 and spent much of his career involved in Criminal Investigations and Intelligence. His most recent command position was as Inspector of the Strategic Management Office at the HRPS where he led several specialized units including Policy & Forms, Planning & Emergency Management, Crime Analysis, Police Analytics, Program Support, and Enterprise Management. He has also served as vice-chair for the Criminal Intelligence Service Ontario (CISO) Operating Body Executive for the past two years.
