In hopes of creating an outdoor classroom space, the Key Club at Northern Collegiate hosted a tree planting ceremony last month.
The student-led group is a high school organization where members make the world a better place through acts of service.
Members wanted to provide an outdoor space for students who want to study outside in warmer weather, or if temperatures get to hot inside.
The ceremony, held on the north-west side of the high school, was run by students, with a helping hand of a teacher, Mme. Ferrar.
They have picnic tables stored in the library, which will be put out as well.
Three people in the community helped by providing two large autumn blaze red maple trees: Ms. Hiker from the Sarnia-Lambton Arbour Week Committee, Mr. Elwood, Enbridge Operations Supervisor-Sarnia, and Mr. DeGroot, owner and operator of DeGroot's Nurseries.
Ms. Hiker, and Mr. DeGroot provided the trees, while Mr. Elwood donated his time to plant these trees in the yard.
The event lasted about an hour, with students and adults alike, donating their time and service to plant the trees.
