Sarnia Police say two 19-year-old males have been arrested in connection an Aamjiwnaang First Nation shooting that occurred late Wednesday.
Police say officers were called to the area of White Circle and Tashmoo Ave., around 9:45 p.m., where they discovered a 19-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the back of his shoulder. The weapon used was a handgun.
Two 19-year-old males were arrested. One faces charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless use of a firearm. The other faces charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm; careless use of a firearm; possession of prohibited device or ammunition; and careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.
“The victim’s injuries in this matter are not life threatening and are considered minor in nature,” a news release stated, Thursday. “There is no ongoing threat to public safety at this time.
“The Sarnia Police Service are continuing to investigate this matter and currently remain on scene on White Circle.”
