Sarnia Transit introduces new community bus route to boost accessibility

Starting Monday, November 11, Sarnia Transit will launch a new Community Bus route designed to offer convenient access to popular Care-A-Van destinations throughout the city.

Operating on weekdays, the Community Bus will run on a 60-minute schedule from 10:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., functioning as a single-loop route that eliminates the need for transfers.

This new route, introduced as a pilot program, addresses feedback from both conventional transit and Care-A-Van riders who identified a need for improved access to high-demand locations. By offering a direct service to destinations such as community programs, specialized homes, shopping centres, and healthcare facilities, the route aims to reduce pressure on the Care-A-Van service, allowing it to better serve clients requiring specific appointment times. High demand during peak weekday hours had sometimes made it challenging for some Care-A-Van users to secure bookings.

With stops clearly marked by green Community Bus signs, the route offers a reliable and flexible travel option, accommodating those who need regular transportation to essential services. This initiative enhances convenience for transit riders and provides Care-A-Van clients with an alternative to scheduled bookings for frequently visited destinations.

For a complete route map and additional information, residents are encouraged to visit the Sarnia Transit's website.
