The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has handed out municipal revenue generated in the first quarter (April 1 – June 30, 2024).
The City of Sarnia received $108,801 for hosting the Gateway Casinos at Hiawatha Horse Park on the Golden Mile. Since the gaming site opened in May 1999, Sarnia has received $27,771,718.
The Village of Point Edward received a fourth-quarter non-tax revenue payment of$441,729 for hosting the Starlight Casino on the waterfront.
Since the gaming site opened in April 2000, Point Edward has received $52,633,782.
Payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site, the OLG stated.
“Investing OLG’s profits back into host communities is another example of our government’s continued efforts to strengthen local infrastructure and community programs,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “We remain focused on working with our municipal partners to ensure that communities across Ontario have the supports in place to empower their residents to lead active, fulfilling lives and enable local businesses to thrive.”
