Officials gathered downtown last Friday for the official unveiling of The Centre — formerly the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Centre Sarnia Lambton.
"It is with immense gratitude and excitement that we gather today to unveil our re-brand and celebrate this new chapter and home for our organization,” executive director Chantel Butterfield said at the event, held at the agency’s new location at 145 Christina St. North in Sarnia. “This space represents more than just a physical location — it’s a sanctuary of hope, healing, and belonging for survivors of sexual harm, human trafficking and gender-based violence.”
The agency worked with Studio Q to come up with the re-brand, which includes a new logo, and is a reflection of their “continued commitment to advocacy, support,” Butterfield explained, and “creating a safe haven where survivors can truly thrive.”
The Centre’s mission remains unchanged — supporting and empowering all people who have experienced or been affected by sexual harm, trauma or exploitation through education, prevention, partnerships, and healing for a better future.
“We are committed to providing a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes safety, respect, and empowerment,” Butterfield added. “Our organization is a place where survivors can reclaim their agency and find the tools they need for growth and renewal. Every resource we offer — from counselling to workshops — is designed to support your healing in ways that honour your experiences and boundaries.”
Founded in 1982, the agency has been a cornerstone of the Sarnia-Lambton community, offering sexual assault, human trafficking and gender-based violence counselling, support, resources and education.
