Lambton County Councillors will visit several local libraries to participate in storytime sessions across the County to celebrate Local Government Week.
Lambton County Warden Kevin Marriott, along with various Councillors, will read to children during popular library programs, giving families the opportunity to meet their local elected representatives and recognize the important work of local government services. This includes library services, which play a crucial role in promoting early literacy and fostering healthier communities.
“Public libraries are an essential community resource, and studies have shown that communities with higher literacy rates often have lower unemployment rates, higher wage earners, and greater educational attainment,” said Warden Kevin Marriott. “Lambton County Council is proud of the professional library services it offers to our community and supports the library’s efforts to nurture a literate community capable of reading, writing, counting, comprehending, communicating, and critically evaluating ideas and information at all ages and stages of life.”
