An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but it also provides good nutrition for those people in need of healthy food in the community.
The Inn of the Good Shepherd’s Mobile Market is providing fresh fruit and vegetables for up to 1,000 people a week, and apples are one of the staple items.
Members of the Kiwanis Club of Sarnia-Lambton Golden K are doing their part by picking apples at Macklin’s Farm in Sarnia and donating them to the Inn for the Mobile Market. They had picked and donated 16 bushels of the tasty fruit by the end of September.
Seen here on a recent picking expedition are Kiwanis members Jim Stirling, Anne Denman and Allan McKeown on the left, and John Cooke, David Murray and Dennis Loucks on the right. For more about Kiwanis, visit http://sarniakiwanis.com
