The International Symphony Orchestra will launch their 67th legacy concert season Mid Journey with "Windy Journey", a concert series featuring two orchestra members in key roles: Phelan Young will perform the Eric Ewazen Bassoon Concerto, and the orchestra will debut the original post-Halloween work "Phantasmagoria" by principal horn/composer Dinah Bianchi.
The Windy Journey concerts will take place Saturday November 2nd 7:30 pm at McMorran Theater in Port Huron, with a 3 pm matinee Sunday November 3rd at Imperial Theatre Sarnia.
ISO Music Director Maestro Douglas Bianchi looks back on the Symphony's rapid post-pandemic growth with a sense of excitement for the Mid Journey season. "We concluded last season with two of the strongest and most well-attended concerts in our history. Every offseason after the pandemic we keep finding ourselves in a position to push the envelope even further, and the Mid Journey season will feature a different set of surprises, along with the community favourites Messiah, At The Movies and the Celtic concerts."
And just prior to the Windy Journey concerts, in another first for the ISO, Executive Director Anthony Wing will receive a Mayor's Honour award for the ISO's musical, educational and cultural contributions to our bridged communities over his 6-year leadership of the organization.
On Sunday November 3rd there will be a post-matinee reception at The ISObar, a licensed multipurpose events space and cultural hub located next door to Imperial Theatre Sarnia which opened in December 2023.
The ISO Windy Journey series was made possible by assistance from Pollock Randall Funeral Homes and a dedication to St Joseph's Hospice Sarnia.
