More live music will be on tap when the 16th annual Sarnia Kinsmen Ribfest returns to Hiawatha Horse Park on Father’s Day weekend.
A record 18 bands will play two stages over the four days, complementing ribbers from across North America, vendors and a midway.
“This is the most diverse and powerful musical line-up Sarnia Ribfest has brought forward,” said co-organizer Kerry Belliveau.
As many as 20,000 people are expected at the family-friendly event, June 12-15. The line-up of local and Ontario bands run the gamut from folk and Irish, to country and classic rock.
A new addition this year is a Big Toys for Big Boys attraction, showcasing the latest in automobiles, tractors and all-terrain vehicles all weekend long.
A Rise To Fame talent show for stars of the future will be held June 14,with a June 1 deadline for registering on the Western Fair website. Families are encouraged to visit and cheer on the young performers.
Founder and chief organizer Dave Johnston said a key part of Ribfest remains the free admittance, which includes all of the concerts.
The event benefits from many sponsors include a new partnership with HC Starck Canada.
Proceeds from Ribfest support the annual Santa Claus parade and other Sarnia Kinsmen initiatives.
