Journal Staff From a soaring astronaut’s party to a train wreck under the St. Clair River, from a heart-warming basketball game to an ice-rimed ship berthing in record-breaking cold, these are the images that captured a fateful 2019.
From a soaring astronaut’s party to a train wreck under the St. Clair River, from a heart-warming basketball game to an ice-rimed ship berthing in record-breaking cold, these are the images that captured a fateful 2019.
Sarnia Journal photographers pointed their cameras in all directions this year and recorded thousands of images of the community. Like all great craftsmen, Glenn Ogilvie, Troy Shantz, Bruce Smith and Ronny D’Haene not only saw beauty in unexpected places, they captured it using a keen eye for lighting, composition and storytelling.
Photography is not easy. When Ogilvie, for example, came back from a shoot at Sarnia Harbour on the coldest day of the year, his fingers had literally stopped working. Dedication to craft is why he has long been regarded as Sarnia’s preeminent news photojournalist.
Today, we present some of our favourites photos of 2o19. We hope you enjoy them too.
