Organizers hope the 12th annual Race to Erase in May will push the proceeds raised for charity since 2006 over the cool half-million dollar mark.
“The committee is putting together an amazing series of new challenges,” said co-founder Rich Bouchard. “We are once again looking to have a lot of fun and raise funds for several amazing local organizations.”
The Race to Erase is an annual fundraiser started in 2006 in which four-person teams compete in challenges in support of 11 local charities.
This year’s event is set for Saturday, May 12. The exact location is kept a secret until Race Day, but it is in Sarnia-Lambton.
The challenges are designed to be entertaining and raise awareness about local businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Think ‘Amazing Race’ or ‘Minute to Win It,’ but with a local twist, Bouchard said.
Over its first 11 years the event has provided charities with $475,000, he added.
“This year will mark a big milestone.”
Registration is free, but each team is asked to raise a minimum of $500.
