A new public seminar series begins next week in Sarnia.

‘Tuesdays at First’ will present variety of speakers each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church, 1105 Exmouth St. All are welcome; coffee and light refreshments available.

APRIL 3. SARNIA SPEAKS: Three years ago, Danielle Cooper asked the Sarnia Awesome Foundation for a grant to host a forum where everyday folks could publicly and nervously share their stories. Hundreds have since benefited from listening, caring and sharing at Sarnia Speaks.

APRIL 10. MUSLIM EXPERIENCE: The 80-plus families of the Sarnia Muslim Association are a culturally diverse community. Seema Shahjahan, an adjunct faculty member at Lambton College, discusses the SMA’s functions and her experiences as a Muslim born and raised in Canada.

APRIL 17. RUNNING. SAILING. DIVING: Learn a bundle from the experts who each have 15 minutes to explain their passion, followed Q&A. Why would I sail? by Carolyn and Peter VanReenen. Why would I run? by Lori Robichaud and Cheryl DeGroot. Why would I scuba dive? by Will Schenk and Dave VanBerkel.

APRIL 24. SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT: All you ever wanted to know about the SIU. When does it spring into action, and what is its role as it relates to Ontario policing? Jasbir Dhillon, communications officer with the SIU, will uncover the mystery and answer questions, followed by a Q&A.
