Journal reader Laura Austin shared this photo she took of the lunar eclipse shortly before sunrise this morning.
The image, taken over Sarnia, shows the moon in the earth’s shadow shortly before the maximum eclipse.
Total lunar eclipses occur two times a year but can't be seen everywhere on the planet at the same time.
Below is a composite she created showing the progression, starting at 4:21 a.m. and ending with the maximum eclipse.
