Bike lanes proposed for Cathcart Boulevard have been scrapped.
City council rejected the $80,000 plan last week after more than 130 people objected to it, including a number of cyclists.
Those opposed said bike lanes were unnecessary, hindered parking and could actually increase the risk of accidents by forcing riders closer to vehicle traffic.
The decision also stalled plans for planned safety improvements on Cathcart at the Indian and Murphy road intersections.
