12-year-old upsets tennis veteran

The Sarnia Tennis Club held its 2015 Open Championship recent and 12-year-old Lauren Fullerton pulled off the biggest upset by winning the Ladies Singles title.

Fullerton defeated veteran player Susan Desjardine 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 in the main draw at the Christina Street Club.

In Men’s Singles, Craig Norman defeated Michael Coleman 7-5, 7-5

Chris Fazio and Darren Wong defeated the team of Michael Coleman and Clive Barry, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 in Men’s Doubles, while Sarah Barry and Ilina Krishen downed Dana Merrington and Susan Desjardine 6-2, 6-4 to win the Ladies Doubles crown.

Sarah Barry and Chris Fazio took the Mixed Doubles title with a default victory over Dana Merrington and Michael Coleman.

The club, founded in 1929, is currently holding its 35+ Championship, which concludes this week.
