Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton to Address Affordable Housing Crisis in Upcoming Town Hall

Sarnia, ON – In response to the growing affordable housing crisis, Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton (HFHS/L) is inviting the public to participate in a Town Hall meeting on November 7th, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The meeting will take place at the Sarnia Public Library auditorium and aims to foster a community-wide conversation on the issue of affordable housing.

With housing affordability becoming an increasingly pressing concern in Sarnia and across Lambton County, HFHS/L has unveiled a plan to build ten new homes over the next two years. Five homes are scheduled to be built in Forest by 2025, followed by another five in Sarnia in 2026. The organization’s leaders will present the tangible impact they’ve had on the community and their forward-looking goals during the event.

David Waters, CEO of HFHS/L, and Darryl Blum, Director of Build Services, will be present to lead a live Q&A session following the presentation. This will offer residents an opportunity to engage directly with HFHS/L’s leadership, voice their concerns, and discuss potential solutions to the housing shortage in the region.

As part of their long-term strategy to combat the housing crisis, HFHS/L is also launching a $2.5 million capital fundraising campaign to support their ambitious housing initiative.

HFHS/L has been a cornerstone of the Sarnia/Lambton community for over 30 years, providing affordable housing solutions and helping empower families through homeownership.
