The Sarnia Sting have signed goaltender Evan Maillet to an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement, the hockey club announced Thursday.
The Sting previously acquired Maillet’s rights in an exchange with Kitchener earlier in the season.
“Evan is an athletic and competitive goalie,” said general manager Dylan Seca. “He’s been a part of championship teams in the past couple of years.
“He’s a player who knows what it takes to win,” Seca added. “He also helps our goaltending depth, for the upcoming season and beyond.”
The 6’0”, 170-pound Mississauga, ON native was drafted in 2022, 13 #252 overall by Kitchener Rangers and spent the 2022-2023 season with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U18 AAA team.
Maillet had an impressive .928 SV% throughout 37 regular season games and a GAA of 1.79. In his current season with the Toronto Patriots of the OJHL, he sits with a .916 SV% after 11 games played.
