Sting lead series 3-0 after downing Storm Tuesday night in Guelph

The Sarnia Sting took a commanding 3-0 series lead Tuesday night after downing the Guelph Storm 8-4 at the Sleeman Centre in Game 3 of the first round of the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Western Conference Quarter-Final series.

The Storm led 2-1 after the first period — Sandis Vilmanis put the Sting on the board with a feed from Cooper Way — before the Sting fired back with five unanswered goals in the second period, from Sasha Pastujov, Mitch Young (his first career OHL goal), Nolan Burke, Easton Wainwright and Vilmanis with his second of the night.

Brenden Anderson and Christian Kyrou (with the empty netter) each notched one to make it an 8-4 final for the Sting.

Game 4 of the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Thursday night in Guelph.
