The St. Patrick's Fighting Irish 1974 football champions had their 50th anniversary reunion this past weekend in Sarnia.

The team was given a tremendous Irish reception at St. Pat's Friday morning, which included archival displays, refreshments, and souvenirs.

Coaches Nick DiBrita, Jay Stewart, Mike Adams, Mike Browne, Joe Parizeau, and Bennett Vanni made everyone feel at home at the “new” St. Pat’s. 1974 team captains Chris Curran and Ron Lakusiak addressed the current St. Pat’s senior team with words of encouragement that stressed team loyalty and Irish tradition.

The reunion continued at the Refined Fool Friday evening with a rousing party for family and friends. Saturday's events included golf at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, followed by a team dinner.

By all accounts, the reunion weekend was a momentous success. Though the players walked different paths over 50 years, it was striking to revisit the championship path of 1974.
