Shoplifter caught with drugs

On Saturday, January 25, 2025 just after 1:30 p.m. a staff member from the Walmart Superstore on Quinn Drive called the Sarnia Police Service to report a shoplift in progress. The male suspect selected various electronics items from the store and concealed them in his clothing. He then proceeded to leave the store without making an attempt to pay for the items selected.  The caller was able to provide responding officers with a detailed physical description of the suspect. Officers located the suspect on Barclay Drive and arrested him for theft. Upon searching the suspect, incident to the arrest, officers located 13 grams of suspected fentanyl, along with small Ziploc bags and a digital weigh scale.

A 35 year old of Sarnia was arrested for theft under $5000 contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code and, for possession for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was held for a bail hearing.
