Sarnia Police Respond to Workplace Violence Incident

On October 1, 2024, at approximately 8:00 am, after an innocuous verbal exchange between employees at their workplace, the accused in this matter struck a victim in the back of the head with a pipe.  The accused then turned his attention to several other workers who were either in the vicinity, or attempted to intervene, and assaulted them with weapons.  These weapons included:  a pipe, a hammer, and a large piece of rebar.

The accused then turned his attention to a vehicle in the area and smashed the window.

The Sarnia Police responded to the incident and arrested the accused a short distance away, as he fled the location.  This arrest occurred without incident.

Three victims were transported to hospital by ambulance as a result of their injuries.  Specific results of their injuries are yet to be determined by the Sarnia Police.

A 23 year old of Sarnia, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault with a Weapon (6 counts)
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm (4 Counts)
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (3 counts)
  • Mischief Under $5000

The suspect was held for a bail hearing by the Sarnia Police.  He was subsequently released by the courts on a release order with a court date of October 17, 2024.
