Male arrested in Centennial Park bird killing incident

At 11:37 pm, 1 February 2025, the Sarnia Police were called to the area of Indian Rd N and Exmouth Street for reports that the vehicle involved in Centennial Park bird killing, reported earlier in the day, was currently in that area.  Officers quickly attended the area and located the vehicle and suspect in this matter.

While on scene, investigating officers made numerous observations that led them to believe the male was operating a motor vehicle while his ability was impaired by alcohol.  Officers demanded the driver provide a sample of his breath into an Approved Screening Device, however, he refused to provide a proper sample as required by law.    

As a result, A 31 year old of Petrolia, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with a breath demand.  This offence also result in his vehicle seized for 7 days and his license will be suspended for 90 days.
  • Cruelty to animals X 4

The suspect was released from police custody on an Undertaking with conditions.
