On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at approximately 10:00 PM, officers from the Sarnia Police Service were dispatched to the intersection of Vidal Street North and Davis Street in response to a single motor vehicle collision. Upon arriving at the scene, police located a white Hyundai that had been involved in the collision.

Initial investigations revealed that the vehicle had been traveling northbound on Vidal Street when it failed to stop at a red light at Davis Street, subsequently losing control. Vidal Street continues to be a two-way road due to ongoing construction. The vehicle then collided with a street sign and a small tree before coming to a stop.

Further investigation determined that the driver, a 26-year-old female from Lambton Shores, was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested at the scene for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance.

As a result of the investigation, the individual has been charged with the following:

  • Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired by Alcohol
  • Operation of a Conveyance with Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg
  • Fail to Stop at Red Light (Highway Traffic Act)
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance (Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act)

The accused is currently before the courts for previous charges related to possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. Given the severity of the situation, she has been held in custody for a bail hearing.
