HTA Charges laid in Fail to Remain collision

Update to motor vehicle collision

On November 12 2024 at 1:40am, police were called to a scene of a collision at Lakeshore Road at Mc Millen Parkway East in the City of Sarnia.  Witness reported a single pick up truck had struck a hydro pole and fled the scene.  

Officers searched arrived on scene and located a bumper, with attached licence plate, in the collision debris.  Sarnia police attended the home of the registered owner and located the vehicle in the driveway.  The vehicle had obvious damage consistent with the earlier collision. 

As a result of this investigation, a 29 year of Sarnia, has been charged with the following offences under Part III of the Highway Traffic Act:

  • Fail to Remain HTA sec 200(1)(a) 
  • Careless Driving HTA sec 130(1)

This resulted is a loss of power to approx 10 houses but was quickly restored by Bluewater Power.  The road is expected to reopen by approximately noon today.  No injuries were sustained.
