On November 16, 2024, officers and civilian team members volunteered their time for the 13th annual Cops for Cans fundraising event.
Team members were located at four stores throughout the city, including The Real Canadian Superstore, Kyle's No Frills, Walmart Supercentre and Bight's Grove Foodland collecting non-perishable food items for the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
This year the Sarnia Police Service collected a total of 13,678 pounds of food. This is just over 2,000 pounds more than last year!
This would not have been possible without the generosity of our community members. The Sarnia Police Service would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support of this initiative, and the staff and volunteers at the Inn of the Good Shepherd for their support in organizing trucks, transporting and sorting the donations, and weighing the totals. Cops for Cans is a highlight of the season and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year.
