On July 1 2024 at 6:45pm, SPS officers attended Rainbow Park in the City of Sarnia after a male reported he and his dog had been attacked by two “pit bull type” dogs known to belong to a park occupant. The victim and his dog were not injured in his incident. .
While investigating this matter it was brought to police attention that another similar incident had occurred earlier involving these same dogs. This second complainant reported his dog was attacked by two off leash dogs while he was walking northbound on Christina Street at Rainbow Park. The complainant was able to provide a description of the dogs and the owner. This victim received a bite to his hand and arm (minor injury) and his dog sustained superficial bite marks on its head. A dog bite report was submitted to Lambton Public Health.
A search of the park revealed that the responsible dogs and their owner had departed to an unknown location as police continued their efforts to find them. On July 8, Sarnia Police located the dog owner and one of the dogs.
In consultation with City of Sarnia Bylaw, a 39 year old Sarnia man has been charged with nine offences under the Sarnia By-law (Number 133 of 2009 – Regulation of Dogs and Cats by-law). Charges are by way of Part III Summons under the POA.

One dog was seized and placed in the care of the Humane Society. They will determine the appropriate dispositon of the dog.
