LETTER: 'Mr. Blake took an empty eyesore and created community solidarity'

Kirkland Blake says he will have to shut down his detailing business if the city insists on removal of three tents on his Lakeshore Road property. (Cathy Dobson photo)

Re: Local businessman fought city hall and won

Dear Editor:

I was so very pleased to read that Mr Blake was given full support by the committee for the variance so his detailing business could continue at that location.

It’s worth noting that commercial businesses have operated at that corner for 75 years or more. At most major intersections alone no Lakeshore there are various commercial or retail businesses operating.

Mr. Blake took an empty eyesore and created commerce, presence and community solidarity....obviously.

I know many in the community provided him with advice, guidance and practical support.

What I found odd was that Councilman Bill Dennis posted a blurb on his Facebook that stated or at least heavily inferred he was the one that won this cause for Mr. Blake.

Nonetheless the real winners are Mr Blake and Sarnia small businesses.

Well done!
