The Journal received more than 100 emails, phone calls and Facebook posts following publication of its first edition last week. Below is a sampling of comments.
Congratulations to all of you for a fantastic paper … this is what Sarnia needed … and at the right time … Great Job to all of you … and looking forward to the next.
I was thrilled to see a copy of The Sarnia Journal in my mailbox today. It looks great! I wish you success. A message must be sent to big media that a community newspaper needs to be a forum for local news and interests, not heaps of national and cold copy.

Sarnia's new independent paper, The Sarnia Journal, had its very first issue out today and there's quotes fromOpenMedia.ca on the front page. That makes me smile.

Love the new Sarnia Journal. I leafed through it to start, then realized that I wanted to read every single story! Every single story ... that doesn't happen with any other newspaper!
Felt really good in my hands...looks sharp. Local focus is spot on ... and it has funny pages in colour ... Can I get a copy for my mom?
Congrats! Got mine in the mail and it has a quality look and feel. Lots of talent on board too, which is great to see.
Congratulations on the Journal. I feel this paper is needed to fill the void on local news information. There is lots going on in Sarnia and surrounding local areas and most of the time people are not aware, because there really is not a vehicle to tell the stories.

Just read our new local paper. You have a winner (and) it’s about time we got local news. We wish you all the best. Also, love the page size; much easier to handle.
