Surrounded by family on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 15:55, Karen Ann White was peacefully reunited with her son Curtis, best friend Randy, and her fur baby Shadow after finishing her hard fought battle with metastatic breast cancer. Karen was born in Sarnia, Ontario on June 27, 1960. The most important thing to Karen was her family. She was also known for her work ethic and her compassion. She always worked multiple jobs, working right up until her health prevented her, and frequently held fundraisers for community charities. Karen grew up in Corunna, ON and was an avid sports fan. She loved hockey, NASCAR racing, baseball, and was a die-hard Toronto Blue Jays fan, making the trip to Toronto’s former Skydome and now Rogers Centre to take in as many games as she could with her family. If Karen was unable to be at the game live, she would be watching it on tv or on her phone and always had alerts on her phone to ensure she never missed a play. Karen was also passionate about gardening and birds. She loved to see cardinals and blue jays, especially as they came to feed on her property at one of the many feeders she kept stocked year-round. Karen’s house and yard was never without an assortment of beautiful plants and flowers. Karen was a loving mother to her son Chad Recker and daughter-in-law Kirsty Recker, whom she was so proud of, and Curtis Recker (July 13, 1983 – July 12, 1994), whom she missed dearly. Cherished Grandma to Lauren and Landen Recker. Karen loved being a grandma more than anything and was so proud of her grandchildren. She was a very special light in both of their lives. She is also survived by her brothers Larry White, and Dan White (Joanne Yazbach), and sisters Janet Miller, and Lisa Krohn, nieces and nephews Tracey Palmer, Joseph White, Jacob White, Erin White, Dustin Halliday, Tyler Halliday, Ryan Metzler, Dyllon Metzler, Matthew Krohn, Raylene Krohn, Melissa Krohn, many cousins, great-nieces/nephews, and her adopted daughter Chrystal (Derek) Taylor. Karen also leaves behind her loyal dog Ace. Karen is predeceased by her best friend Randy Recker and Son Curtis Recker (1994), Father Carl White (2024), and brother-in-law Melvin Krohn (2024). The loss of Karen White will leave a hole in many hearts which could never be filled. As per her wishes, Karen will not have a funeral visitation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Special thank you to Dr. Lebert, Dr. Crombeen, NP Willie and special care given by palliative care Nurses Vicki, Christine, Herber, and Jamie and PSWs Jaime and Stacey. Sympathy donations may be made in Karen’s honour to Sarnia & District Humane Society or Breast Cancer Research (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
