It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Jarvis Davidson, aged 80, on March 3, 2025. John peacefully left us after a brief illness at Bluewater Health Palliative Care surrounded by loved ones.

Born on February 21, 1945, in Edinburgh, Scotland John was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and a cherished friend. He was preceded by his parents Frank and Ida Davidson and brother Frank Jr. John is survived by his wife and best friend, Janey Davidson (Barker), daughter Shawna (Kristy) Bayne, and grandchildren Jacob Roe and London Bayne who will carry on his memory with love and gratitude.

Though he may not have sought the spotlight, those who had the privilege of knowing John will always remember him for his genuine nature, unwavering loyalty, and the quiet ways in which he cared.  John was a Instrumental Mechanic at Cabot Canada Ltd until his retirement in 2008. He had a passion for fixing anything and everything, bingo – especially in Las Vegas, cherished travels to warm destinations with Janey,  watching Jacob’s hockey games and playing cards games with London, often finding peace in leaving no job undone, a big win and a sunny sky! John was a pillar of support teaching Shawna the tricks of his trades.  He was immensely proud of Jacob’s new career as a Safety Attendant after having built pools for many years just like Grandpa and London’s recent university acceptance to study Psychology. John wasn’t shy about sharing his witty sense of humour, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone near him. His unique perspective on life, and the gentle wisdom he shared, will continue to resonate with those who were fortunate enough to be in his life. He will be forever missed.

The family would like to extend a special note of gratitude to Dr. MacSweeney and the BWH Palliative team. Their compassionate care, not only for John but for our family, has been a source of comfort during this difficult time. Dr. MacSweeney went above and beyond, offering not just medical expertise but also kindness, patience, and emotional support.

To honour John’s wishes, there will be no formal service and cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre; 431 Christina St. N. Messages of condolence & memories may be left at www.mckenzieblundy.com
