These portable devices allow you to take the internet with you, offering the flexibility to connect from anywhere, whether for work, study, or leisure.
The Wi-Fi hotspots, available for a 14-day rental period, have already proven incredibly popular since their introduction in May, with 97 loans to date. Patrons can use them to browse the internet, check emails, and access a variety of essential online services, helping bridge the gap for those without reliable home internet. However, it’s worth noting that certain content, including streaming services like Netflix and Prime, as well as gambling and adult content, is restricted in accordance with vendor policies.
“We've been thrilled with the community’s response,” said Darlene Coke, Manager of Library Services. “The hotspots are especially valuable for individuals who may not have stable internet connections or for those in rural areas with limited access.”
Renting a Wi-Fi hotspot is simple—just visit your nearest library branch and place a request, much like you would for a book. The devices are lightweight and easy to use, making them ideal for those on the go, or for families needing temporary internet access for activities such as online schooling, remote work, or a camping trip.
But that’s not all—the Wi-Fi hotspots are just one of the many forward-thinking services the library is offering to the community. From the innovative Makerspace to telescope rentals, there’s something for everyone at our local library.
Why settle for an ordinary library visit when you can explore new technology, borrow tools for your next project, or even gaze at the stars with a borrowed telescope? With so much to offer, the Lambton County Libraries aren’t just keeping up with the times—they’re blazing a trail!
Don't miss out on these exciting opportunities—visit the library today and see what the future holds.
