The Sarnia Sting have signed first-round draft pick Jacob Perreault to a standard player agreement and education package.
The son of former NHL forward Yanic Perreault led the Chicago Mission U16 team to a USA Hockey National Championship last month after leading the High-Performance Hockey League (HPHL) in goals and points.
He played in the recent OHL Gold Cup showcasing the top under-16 talent in the province.
Sting fans had their first chance to see the five-foot-11, 195-pound Perreault on May 12 when orientation camp opened at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
“Jacob is a special player and we are thrilled to be able to add him to our team,” said Sting general manager Nick Sinclair.
