First-time school bus riders in Sarnia Lambton are invited to the annual “First Time Rider” Orientation Day on Saturday, Aug. 17.

The event, hosted by Chatham-Kent Lambton Administrative School Services (CLASS) together with local school bus operators, will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Great Lakes Secondary School.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the free session, where they will watch a brief animated school bus safety video and then have the opportunity to board a bus and go for a short ride together. Safety trainers will be onsite to talk to the children and parents about basic school bus safety rules, how to cross the street safely and how to evacuate a bus in case of an emergency.

The sessions will run continuously beginning at 9 a.m. and are approximately one-half hour in duration, and are open to first-time riders from JK – Grade 1 for students in the Lambton Kent District and St. Clair Catholic District School Boards.
