The Lambton Kent District School Board is hiring more occasional teachers for both its elementary and secondary classrooms.
The board says it needs to expand the roster because it’s having trouble finding enough occasional teachers to cover staff absences.
“We are starting to feel the pressure of the changing competitive market for supply teachers,” said education superintendent Phil Warner.
“We are competing with neighbouring school boards for the same pool of applicants and we are finding it difficult to fill day-to-day positions.”
Occasional teaching positions can be a stepping-stone to full-time employment.
