Local police are shifting their focus in the search for a Sarnia man who went missing last week.

“Ground search efforts have been completed and we are transitioning to investigative avenues to locate Mr. Robertson,” a Sarnia Police Service news release stated Thursday. “This includes continued requests for public assistance for any information and following up on any investigative leads that may arise.”

Robertson’s disappearance is not considered suspicious, or related to any other missing person investigation, the release noted.

Police said Robertson, 75, went missing from his central Sarnia residence on December 29.

“Family and police shared immediate concerns for Mr. Roberston’s well-being due to his age and the fact that he is a vulnerable person,” police said.

An extensive ground search spanning six days, involved nearly a dozen partners including the Sarnia Police’s Emergency Response Team, Criminal Investigations branch, OPP helicopter, canine and emergency response teams, London search and rescue, Huron search and rescue, as well as Sarnia and Point Edward Fire.

“Despite the exhaustive search efforts Mr. Roberston has not been located,” police stated.

Police are thanking the public for their continued assistance, and urge anyone with information to contact the Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigative Branch at 519-344-8861, extension 5300.
